EPISODE 74 | Celebrating the Journey of CEStv
When City Electric Supply (CES) launched CEStv in late 2021 with our first episode, Lifehouse Church, our goal was to create a platform that showcased the latest industry news nationwide through local projects, branch events, spotlights, community initiatives, and more!
We’ve shared stories about how CES makes an impact by showcasing what we do and how we get it done, together. With over 70 episodes, 30,000+ views, and countless success stories, CEStv has become more than just a platform for industry news; it’s been a way to connect, inspire, and celebrate the journey of our team members and the people we serve.
For the people
The foundation of everything CES does as a company — and why CEStv began in the first place — is for the people.
“That’s what we do every day,” said CES Co-Chief Executive Officer John Gray. “We’re very much a people business, and we’re very much a people industry.”
Every milestone we’ve accomplished, from branch anniversaries to grand openings, is a testament to the dedication of our teams and the trust of our customers.
Just take a look back at a couple of our earlier episodes, like CES Marathon Grand Opening and CES Summerville 25thAnniversary to see how our branches have grown and thrived.
“It took us just over a year and a half to open this branch. We’re excited to serve the community here in Marathon,” said Senior Regional Manager Mike Bertone.
“All of the hard work over the past 25 years, the guys that have been here and done the work for the community — this is a way to thank them for making us who we are today,” shared District Manager Mike Dryden.
A culture of partnership
It’s not only the people that make CES a success — our culture and the strong relationships we’ve built through our many projects drive us to go above and beyond to get the job done, no matter what.
“City Electric Supply coming early in the morning and late at night, dropping off material that we needed to keep moving, was a hands-on total team effort,” said President & CEO of PowerComm, LLC Brian McAnulla.
John Gosney Jr., co-owner and president of G4 Electric, shared more about the impact on a project in Tempe, Arizona. “CES has been a partner on this project. Without CES, there’s no G4 Electric working at the pier. They sell us the material, they supply the material, and they deliver the material. Without them, we couldn’t do it.”
Fostering connections
These feats wouldn’t be possible without our incredible team members and the connections they’ve built together through the years. At CES, we consider ourselves family — and as a third-generation family-owned company, in some instances, we actually are!
“I’ve got guys who still come in all the time saying, ‘Man, I remember when you were three or four years old coming with your dad to work. Now he’s got you in the industry working with him and climbing the ranks with him. Just like father, like son,” said Branch Manager Trainee Nathan Ford.
And the connections are made stronger with our bi-annual conference, CES Connect, which has grown from a 140-person event in 2014 at the Hyatt Regency in Dallas, Texas, to an over 2,000-person event this year at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
“I hope that when people walk away from this conference, they feel refreshed, connected, and part of a bigger family than they realized they were ever part of before,” said Director of Events Christine DeMartino.
Empowering local communities
CES doesn’t just serve the community by getting the materials they need; we also give back through various charitable organizations like Make-A-Wish®.
“Since the beginning of our North American partnership, City Electric Supply has impacted local communities thanks to the hard work and generosity of employees, leadership, and branches,” shared CES Social Impact Manager Karen Gray.
This is made possible by team members like CES National Project Team Lead Qwon Reid and CES Apex stepping up to the challenge and raising over $6,000 for Make-A-Wish® in 2022.
“My guys and I went after this with everything we had,” shared Reid. “Our goal was to be impactful to Make-A-Wish®.”
Staying ahead of the curve
Through training sessions, product demos, and more, CEStv has brought the future of innovation to life.
“City Electric Supply’s mission and their statement is customer service first,” said District Manager Shawn Howard during a Generac training event. “It feels really great to be here today and get together with our customers and a few of our employees during the training.”
Innovation also takes shape through tours at the TAMCO facility in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
“I think one of the great things about the tours that we do is, not only is it a functional tool where we’re talking about products, but there’s also an opportunity for us all to get together and socialize,” said TAMCO Co-Vice President of Operations Frank McShane. “We’re building relationships between CES and TAMCO.”
Supporting the future
Another thing we’re proud to have showcased through CEStv is supporting the future of the trades and collaborating with local trade schools. Not only has this helped power the growth of our industry, but it also makes a difference in everyday lives.
“Infusing this new generation into our industry is going to strengthen us as it goes forward,” shared District Manager Doug Hornback.
“I’m proud of my company for allowing me to help where we can,” said Branch Manager Kevin Ramsey.
Turning the page
As we turn the page on this chapter of CEStv, we’re reminded that every ending is just the beginning of something greater. This isn’t goodbye — it’s a step toward reinvention, driven by the same purpose: to share stories that inspire, connect, and celebrate our industry.
Thank you for being part of our journey. See you soon!
