Reading Time: 4 minutes

We’re proud to share that City Electric Supply (CES) has achieved an incredible milestone in our mission of granting life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses throughout North America: we’ve raised more than $2 million for Make-A-Wish®!

“We’d like to thank our team members and local communities who helped us reach this goal. CES looks forward to continuing to give back and growing our partnership with Make-A-Wish.” — CES Co-CEOs John Gray & Andrew Dawes

Since 2016 and 2020, respectively, our team members across Canada and the U.S. have supported the nonprofit by hosting events and leading community initiatives.

“Reaching this incredible milestone of raising $2 million for Make-A-Wish is a testament to the dedication and passion of our CES family and the unwavering support of the local communities we serve,” said CES Cares Social Impact Manager Karen Gray.

“This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the collective hard work of our leadership, team members, customers, and partners who share our commitment to making a difference in the lives of children,” added Karen Gray.

To celebrate, join us in looking back on some of our events that have made this milestone possible

From our Counter Days and Grand Openings…

As the first CES event since the announcement of our partnership with Make-A-Wish in the U.S., the team at CES Aledo celebrated their Grand Opening by pulling out all the stops with giveaways, live music, product demos, free BBQ, and $650 in donations to change a child’s life.

In late 2023, CES Bolingbrook led the list of the top 10 fundraising CES branches for Make-A-Wish by raising more than $2,000 at their Counter Day event.

The CES Corpus Christi team brought together contractors and vendors to secure $2,000 in a single day for Make-A-Wish during their Counter Day event.

A former wish kid made an unexpected donation to Make-A-Wish  during CES Valparaiso’s Counter Day, which helped raise hundreds of dollars for the nonprofit.

Fishing, golfing, and cornhole tournaments…

Over a three-year period at the annual Hawk’s Cay Fishing Tournament, approximately $70,000 was raised to grant wishes for children with critical illnesses — including a surprise fishing boat for wish kid Victor Voras.

A district manager hosted the second annual Kelowna Golf Tournament and helped generate over $10,000 to grant the wishes of local children for a week-long trip to a theme park.

CES presented a $110,000 check to Make-A-Wish at a three-day event in North Texas, which included a splash booth, a sports memorabilia auction, and a golf tournament.

CES Fort Myers hosted a cornhole tournament with free vendor giveaways and catered food for team members, friends, and their families; they raised $1,000 for the cause.

Races and marathons…

A district manager ran eight fundraising races within a five-year period and amassed close to $25,000 for Make-A-Wish.

What started as a fun idea at a team dinner became the first Spartan Race hosted by the CES National Solutions Division. Sponsored by several long-time vendors, the event secured nearly $65,000 for Make-A-Wish.

Through three years of participating in the BMW Dallas Marathon Festival, CES raised more than $40,000 for Make-A-Wish.

Toy drives and art sales…

Piloted in 18 branches across Austin, Houston, and San Antonio, the South Texas Toy Drive grew to 41 branches within three years. The annual event collects toys for the holidays and has supported 11 local charities so far, including a $1,000 donation to Make-A-Wish.

A CES Marion team member picked up a woodturning hobby in 2019 and raised more than $500 for Make-A-Wish by selling handmade wooden hummingbird houses, spinning tops, and bottle openers to customers.

And even through word of mouth

Stepping up to the CES nationwide branch fundraising challenge, the CES Apex team reached out to customers to spread awareness of the initiative and ended up collecting more than $6,000 for Make-A-Wish.

“Thank you for helping us bring hope and joy to so many children and families when they needed it most,” said Jared Perry, Chief Revenue Officer at Make-A-Wish America.

“The funds raised by City Electric Supply across North America is a powerful example of what’s possible when compassionate people come together for a shared cause. Their longstanding commitment has helped us bring more life-changing wishes to children facing critical illness,” shared Meaghan Stovel McKnight, Chief Executive Officer at Make-A-Wish Canada.
