CES Fort Myers Raises $1,000 for Make-A-Wish®

City Electric Supply (CES) branches across the country are known for holding charity events to raise money for important causes — and CES Fort Myers is no different. Earlier this month, Branch Manager Peter Schroeder organized a cornhole tournament for employees, friends, and their families to help raise money for Make-A-Wish®!

“It was just a nice family-friendly event,” Schroeder said. “Everyone was so excited to come. We already have a lot of people asking us when our next event will be!”

And it’s no wonder why everyone’s excited to do this again. There was free food from Backyard BBQ, a chance to win cash in the cornhole tournament, and even free prizes from vendors like Milwaukee, Envision Lighting, and Marvin Bochner!

Donate in Your Own Way

“The entire event just had a nice backyard feeling to it,” Schroeder said. “Every vendor showed up with a prize, and all proceeds went to Make-A-Wish. At the end of the event, we raffled off a YETI cooler and an entire Milwaukee Packout set. We even raffled off the cornhole boards from the tournament!”

And better yet, there were even more opportunities to give back.

Whether you wanted to play in the tournament, enter a raffle, or just donate directly to Make-A-Wish, CES Fort Myers made sure everyone knew who the event was for.

“Who doesn’t want to help the kids?” Schroeder laughed. “Make-A-Wish is such a great charity, and it’s so easy to get people involved with what they’re doing. However people preferred to give back, we made sure they could donate in their own way.”

All of that helped turn the cornhole tournament into a huge success. Nearly 100 people showed up and CES Fort Myers raised $1,000 for Make-A-Wish.

“People who’ve never met were switching teams and playing together even after the tournament was over,” Schroeder laughed. “It was great to see everyone get along and just care on so many different levels. Not just about Make-A-Wish but also about each other.”

A Lot of Thank Yous

When asked what his favorite part of the event was, Schroeder said that it was actually what happened after the event that touched him the most.

“My favorite moment was thanking the vendors that participated in the events,” he said. “I was so overwhelmed because they were the catalyst for the raffles, and they showed up big. They made it easy to promote the event that everyone wanted to be a part of.”

And even during the event, Schroeder and the CES Fort Myers team have some memorable moments they’ll never forget.

“Everyone was high-fiving and fist-bumping and hugging,” Schroeder said. “It’s something we haven’t seen in a while. And it felt even better that our branch helped make that moment possible between everyone.”

And, with the money raised for Make-A-Wish, CES Fort Myers will be able to help create even more impactful moments for the wish kids that rely on donations to make their dreams come true.

On behalf of City Electric Supply, we owe a huge thank you to CES Fort Myers, the vendors, and the families that helped make this charity event a success!
