A Quick Chat with Our Cityzen: Miguel Cruzado
Each month, we catch up with different City Electric Supply employees who bring talent, hard work, and determination to our company. Every one of the 3,500+ CES team members plays a vital role in our business and we are very proud of all of their accomplishments!
For the month of June, we had a chat with CES Plaza Midwood, Stores Manager Miguel Cruzado in Charlotte, NC., for his outstanding excellence and work ethic since beginning his career with CES. We are honored to highlight Miguel and everything he does to make CES great.
CES: What is your position now and where did you start in the company?
Miguel: I started at the CES Sunset branch in Charlotte, North Carolina. I met Patrick Haywood, the branch manager at the time at church and he needed a driver, that’s how I came onboard. I was in that position for two years and then I moved up to counter and warehouse.
CES: How long have you worked for CES?
Miguel: I’ve been with the company since 2012.
CES: What is your biggest accomplishment/most proud moment while at CES?
Miguel: Working my way up from driver to stores manager is something I take pride in. I like to keep moving forward in my career. I also like helping customers in the Spanish-speaking community and give them the attention to help them find the exact products they need. It feels good that someone understands what they need since translating products is a challenge for them. It makes me feel good that someone is there to understand them. Whenever they leave the store, they leave with a smile on their face.
CES: What’s your favorite thing about working for this company?
Miguel: The flexibility and the learning. It’s not a typical place where everything has to be a certain way – things change everyday and we have a great group of knowledgeable folks. It’s like we’re a family.
CES: Do you see yourself growing professionally while working for CES?
Miguel: I’m trying to learn as much as I can and take my time to become branch manager. A lot of our goals are to try to open our own branch, but in order to accomplish that, I want to take my time and learn everything I need to.
CES: Describe something unique you do in your position every day:
Miguel: Showing my employees what they need to do and teaching them as much as I can. I encourage them to learn more, if they want to move up. With customers, I’ll often give them a call if I don’t see them for a while and say, “Hey man, where have you been, we miss you over here! We’ve got some new products to show you and a huge sale.” I try to get them back in our store and show them what we have to offer.
CES is a great company to work for, if you apply yourself and give your 100 percent. If you show initiative, then that’s big. Attitude is major!
I’m truly honored to be part of CES and be given the opportunity to be where I am today and that I continue to have the blessing to be a light and share my knowledge with others while giving them opportunity to move up.
CES Charlotte Group Manager Gary Tubbs nominated Miguel for demonstrating hard work, talent, and determination he brings to CES.
Gary Tubbs:
Miguel: Miguel has been newly promoted to Stores Manager. He worked his way from driver to counter/inside sales at the Sunset branch before being promoted a few months ago. Miguel is bilingual and has several Spanish-only speaking customers that he has developed relationships with. Miguel is very highly thought of by his peers and has a big future with CES.
Thank you for everything you do for CES, Miguel!
