Welcome to the January edition of Mackie Monday. This month I wanted to take the opportunity to give you an update on our new Orientation program that will roll out in February. Starting next month, every new member of the CES family will come to our Dallas HQ for a two-day orientation to the company. I am so proud of this new program and believe it is one of the best investments we can make in what is by far our most valuable asset…our people!

 

During these two days, employees have a chance to connect with other new team members from across the organization and gain tremendous insights into not only the history of the company, but also its values and plans for the future. Throughout the two days we encourage our new team members to have an open dialogue with each other and the senior management team leading the training. Although we deliver a lot of content in a short period, the orientation is designed to achieve three main objectives:

  1. Highlight the opportunity that exists within the company and show that CES is a place where you can build a career
  2. Show that CES cares about its employees and their wellbeing
  3. Have people leave excited about what the future holds for them at CES 

Over the last five months, we have trialled the program with five test groups from around the US. During this period the orientation sessions have been lead by Thomas McShane (Marketing Manager), John Gray (General Manager – Charlotte Region), and myself.

Starting in February, the General Managers will rotate each month ensuring that every orientation class can interact directly with one of the senior most individuals within the company, every one of which has worked their way up through the organization.

I originally intended just to welcome each class at the start of their orientation, but after participating in the last five, I have decided that I will carve out the two days each month to be at every orientation. It is only by recruiting and retaining the best talent that we will be able to continue the tremendous growth that we have experienced here in the US and I believe this new program will play a vital role in making these goals a reality.
