Happy Grandparent’s Day!

Reading Time: < 1 minute

My grandfather often talkedCity Electrical Factors Founder Thomas Louis Mackie and grandson, current CEO and President Thomas Hartland-Mackie about the early days and the risk he really took in starting his own business. He was married with three children at the time and he put all of his and my grandmother’s 300£ into the business. It started in a horse stable that was just 1,200 square feet on two floors.

He was a man that worked harder than anybody else I knew. For example, in his late 80s, when I was traveling around with him and he was helping train me within the company, he’d be the first person up in the morning City Electrical Factors Founder Thomas Louis Mackie and grandson, current CEO and President Thomas Hartland-Mackieand still having dinner and meeting people at 10 or 11 o’ clock at night. These are experiences that many people in the company today probably saw from him over the years.

My grandfather was an inspiration to me, he had two main things in his life: his family and City Electric Supply. He dedicated every minute of his day to both.
