CES Broomfield: Angels and Hammers

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Colorado Electric Supply Broomfield, Colo. participated in Hammers and Angels, a local giveback initiative orchestrated by KBPI radio station.

Our branch participated in a most fulfilling and humbling experience. We embarked, along with more than fifty local tradesmen, on a program called Hammers and Angels.

Hammers and Angels is a home makeover program. The receiving family was selected based on need; their 15-year-old daughter, Alex, is wheelchair-bound and handicapped because at 4-months-old she fell victim to shaken baby syndrome, and now has use of only one side of her body.

The home they live in has never been wheelchair accessible, and due to the cost of medical care for Alex the home has never been maintained; it was very run down. CES Broomfield partnered with Tony from Soma Electric and upgraded everything from the service and lighting to the devices in their home.

While electrical upgrades and changes were only a small piece of the overall project, the family will enjoy a new kitchen and appliances, fresh carpet, updated bathrooms, interior/exterior paint, driveway, sidewalk path, rebuilt deck and wheelchair ramps in and out of the house.

I can’t express what a pleasure it was to see the joy on Alex and her family members’ faces at the reveal as they were truly surprised!

Thank you CES for letting me be a part of this wonderful program!
