Episode 49 | CES Montgomery Grand Opening
In Montgomery, Texas, City Electric Supply (CES) got its first branch in the city! About an hour north of Houston on Highway 105, the electrical wholesale distributor’s brand-new storefront recently celebrated its grand opening with more than 100 people!
Branch Manager Travis Guinn leads the team. He has lived in Montgomery for over two decades and has over 30 years of experience in the electrical industry.
“This is the first electrical supply house to come to town, and I’m honored CES has given me the opportunity to lead the branch,” said Guinn. “The community has shown a ton of support, and we are excited to help customers with whatever needs they may have.”
But the town can thank one person in particular for the inspiration to bring this much-needed electrical supplier to the area.
“My wife is actually the person who brought the idea forward to open the location here in Montgomery,” said Guinn. “When we were looking at locations, we initially thought the branch would be outside of the city. But she said, ‘Why not just build a branch here?’ And that’s exactly what we ended up doing,” Guinn said with a smile.
Committed to Serving the Community
Guinn is a face familiar to many in Montgomery, not just electricians and contractors. He has owned and taught at the local karate school for about 10 years and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
“I have up to 100 kids on my roster at a time, so it’s been fun to see people come through our doors either know me through the electrical industry or because I train their kids,” said Guinn.
Additionally, Guinn is ready to use his experience and connections to support the Montgomery TX branch.
“I want to be a resource to my team members here in Montgomery,” said Guinn. “I really enjoy helping everyone reach their full potential. Any opportunity that I can get to train someone and help elevate their career is one of the biggest rewards I can receive as a manager.”
The Grand Opening Event is a Huge Success
As a first-of-its-kind store to arrive in Montgomery, the grand opening event officially showcased the location to the community. Travis gives the credit for the great turnout to his team, who worked hard planning and setting up.
“We all live in the area and want to greet everyone with a smile, making sure they have a pleasant experience when walking through our doors,” said Guinn. “We want people who come to CES Montgomery TX to receive such great customer service that they leave eager to share their experience with friends and family.”
Over 20 manufacturing partners, such as Milwaukee Tool and Klein Tools, were on site. Attendees got to see new products, demonstrations, and event-exclusive promotions. But the fun didn’t end there—the event had raffles for a Traeger Grill, a Smart TV, cutting-edge tools, and CES merchandise.
“The thing that I was looking forward to the most for this event was being able to bring everyone together for the celebration,” said Guinn. “Introducing ourselves to new customers is something we take seriously.”
Adding a Much-Needed Service to Montgomery
Since opening, Guinn says the response has been positive.
“Prior to our opening, people in the community would have to travel about 20 minutes one way to get material,” said Guinn. “In total, we’re cutting a couple of hours out of their time traveling to get back on the job site.”
What’s next? CES Montgomery TX is making its mark as the town’s one-stop shop for everything electrical.
“I know this is going to be a successful branch because of the positivity that radiates from the guys working inside of it,” said District Manager Darron Rocka. “I hope we can continue to grow the name of City Electric Supply, and we’re excited for the opportunity to be here.”
