Decked Out!
The cold days of winter are fading and giving way to brighter, warmer spring days. The coming sun splashed lawns, additional hours of daylight, and children daydreaming of summer break will inevitably unite more groups for backyard barbecues or spritzers on the patio.
Are your customers making plans to prep their outdoor spaces for function and safety this season? This is why they need new lights and how to choose them!
Two questions: what actually needs to have light and in what areas do they want to have light? Pay special attention to the functional spaces like the outdoor kitchen, which requires ample visibility, but avoid over lighting ambience rich areas like around the fire pit. Note dark corners and special features, like fountains and yard art.
LIGHT IT UP
This doesn’t just mean floodlights! Creative and personal façade options abound. From totally antique to unequivocally modern, functional light with personal flair is a must to control the ambience of their entertaining. Look at various lanterns and wall sconces then help them match their design.
STEP RIGHT UP
Do they have stairs? Make the patio safe not only for the host, but also for their guests by installing stair riser lights.
DON’T MISS THE FENCE
This is a relatively inexpensive way to add not only ambience lighting, but also effective safety lighting. These lights are often best served with warmer colors, so look for LEDs with a yellow hue.
Need we say more than LED Ribbon Tape? The subtle illumination of the detailed edging in their space is both safe and appealing … not too mention easy to install!
PERSONAL TOUCHES
After you’ve transformed the space, they may want to really put their own thumbprint on it. Give them some ideas like whimsical string lights (LED, of course!) or craft projects like paper lanterns and mason jar lights. Our friends at Lutron have some really great ideas – find some pinspiration!
