CES Tifton, GA: The Friendly City Welcomes its First Branch
[Tifton, Georgia] — City Electric Supply is opening a new branch in Tifton, Ga., a town located just an hour or two away from both the Florida and Alabama state lines. Tifton is known as The Friendly City, and the welcoming community has plenty of opportunities for the newest CES branch to serve its medical centers, schools, and manufacturing sites.
The Tifton branch is conveniently located off of I-75 and Highway 82, directly in the middle of the town. Only a mile from good food, shopping areas, and everything else Tifton has to offer, Branch Manager Darren Johnson said he couldn’t be happier with the branch location.
With 13 years of experience in the electrical industry working mostly for competitors, Johnson is excited to work for City Electric Supply.
“I worked for a competitor for 12 years, but I am always looking for a way to better myself. I started looking at what else was potentially out there and that’s when City Electric Supply called,” Johnson said
After starting with CES, Johnson had the privilege to attend the North American Managers’ Conference in Dallas. He learned more about the company, and he met other employees from all over North America.
“Before the conference, I had no idea just how large the company was. I met people not only from the United States, but also from Canada,” he said.
Johnson worked at the Valdosta branch over the last year as their outside sales rep, but when the opportunity for him to run his own branch arose, he could not say no. Although there are numerous reasons he loved being an outside sales rep, he is most excited about being a branch manager because he gets to have his own store and make his own decisions.
“I am excited because I am a people person. I have always dreamed of owning my store and CES has helped me do that,” he said.
Aside from finding the perfect spot to open the branch, the Tifton branch only required a little work before its opening.
“The store fell into our lap; we were very lucky,” Johnson said. “The store used to be a shop that fixed up cars. The only things we had to do were enclose the offices and paint, which took the most time.”
With a combined experience of 30 years across the entire team, Johnson believes this branch will be one of a kind.
“One of my employees has worked mostly on the industrial side, while the other has more experience in the residential and commercial side. We know how and what it takes to get the job done, as well as how important time is these days. Having two people on my team who can answer any questions no matter what job comes in will definitely help us build relationships with our customers in Tifton,” Johnson said.
From the branch’s unique location to the exceptional customer service his team provides, Johnson has no doubts that his branch will make a difference in the community.
“If a customer is going to lunch and calls needing a product, we will make sure it is ready for them on their way back to work,” said Johnson. “We want to make it as easy as possible for them to stop in, get what they need, and get back to their work.”
