CES RAISES $60,000 FOR THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY

Since 2016, City Electric Supply (CES) has worked with the American Cancer Society (ACS) to support the fight against cancer for everyone. CES is proud to announce that it has raised $60,000 for the organization.

Philanthropic Work That Matters

This milestone marks a longstanding collaboration. And the cause is nothing short of meaningful.

“Cancer has touched the lives of everyone in the CES family in some way,” said Karen Gray, Social Impact Manager for CES Cares. “It’s something that we can bring awareness to for early detection and help raise funds for those who have been diagnosed.”

The urgency is clear. In the U.S., ACS projects 1,958,310 new cancer cases and 609,820 cancer-related deaths in 2023 alone. These statistics highlight the critical need for early detection and robust fundraising—and CES has stepped up to the challenge.

Cancer-Fighting Campaigns

For over 100 years, ACS has worked to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support. The organization is committed to making sure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, and treat the disease.

CES Cares works with ACS through two annual campaigns:

  • Breast Cancer Awareness in October

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, CES promotes candid discussions and regular cancer screening tests each October. CES also encourages team members to donate to the American Cancer Society —contributing to the fight against breast cancer as we know it.

  • Men’s Health Awareness in November

In celebration of “Movember,” CES team members participate in the company’s “No-Shave November” beard bracket. The public is invited to engage on Facebook—and vote for their favorite beard. For every like, comment, and share, up to $3 goes toward men’s health awareness.

CES has promised to match these donations. Meanwhile, at the end of the month, the winner will receive a prize package. The goods include a beard trimmer, a camo shirt, and a bottle opener in the shape of a beard!

“It’s always exciting to see how many people participate,” noted Gray. “The contestants have a friendly rivalry and try to muster up votes from their friends and family.”

The Charitable Way Forward

CES Cares is the driving force behind our company’s philanthropic initiatives. Since its inception in 2016, the social impact division of CES has raised over $11 million in charitable donations—reinforcing the team’s commitment to making a difference.

“We’ve gotten feedback from team members whose family members have battled cancer or who have had it themselves,” Gray added. “Giving them an opportunity to donate to such a worthy cause is very rewarding, especially for the American Cancer Society in October and November.”

There is nothing like witnessing the CES community rally behind ACS. This $60,000 milestone is not just a number but a symbol of hope and determination. It represents the collective strength of team members who share a common vision to fight against cancer.
