Riverside Intermediate fifth graders spearhead project to improve enclosure for school’s goats

About 50 fifth graders, led by their teachers Heather Asher and Marc Dashiell, have been working on improvements to the goat enclosure for the last few months.

It started as persuasive writing lessons and morphed into a hands-on project combining the humanities, taught by Asher, and STEM, or science, technology, engineering and math, which Dashiell teaches.

Adding to the Riverside goat enclosure

In addition to painting the goats’ shelter, the students asked for – and received – donations for the goats, including from Home Depot, White’s Ace Hardware and City Electric Supply, so the goats can have a playground of things to climb and jump over. Read more…
