A Quick Chat with Yousef Mesad

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Each month, we catch up with different City Electric Supply employees who bring talent, hard work, and determination to our company. Every one of the 3,500+ CES team members plays a vital role in our business and we are very proud of all their accomplishments!

We recently had the pleasure of catching up with  District Manager Yousef Mesad in San Diego, California about his inspiring journey with us over the past decade. As a strong advocate for organic growth, we are truly honored to witness the hard work and dedication of employees such as Yousef.

For the month of January, we had a chat with him to learn more about what he does for CES. It’s our pleasure to highlight Yousef and everything he does to make CES a great place to work.

CES: How long have you worked with CES?

Yousef: I’ve worked at CES for 11 years. I discovered the company after a visit to California from Jordan. My children fell in love with San Diego instantly so we decided to stay.

CES: What is your position now and where did you start in the company?

Yousef: I originally started as a branch manager which allowed me to learn the electrical industry. While I had no experience in wholesale, I had obtained an engineering degree from The University of Salford, in Manchester, England. I worked extremely hard, often seven days a week some days 12-13 hours to ensure our branch could grow.

CES: What’s been your biggest accomplishment/most proud moment while at CES?

Yousef: My branch recently ranked number one for the year in the region with highest performance and number of accounts. As the manager at the time, I was awarded a new Mercedes c300. I was extremely proud of all the work everyone put in for our accomplishments. Additionally, I was also amazed at how quickly the Chula Vista branch became successful when I first started. I was new to managing the location during this time but in two years, we surpassed expectations.

CES: What’s your favorite thing about working for this company?

Yousef: Working at CES feels as if you have an opportunity to run your own business. Whatever you put in, you get out. They really give you a chance to own the opportunity and lead.

CES: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Yousef: I would like to be a Vice President of Operations someday.

CES: What is one unique thing you do at work every day?

Yousef: Currently, I oversee several locations including the one I began my career with at CES. I’m passionate about building teams and passing on experiences to help improve the other branches.
