A Quick Chat with Jeff Wilson
Each month, we catch up with different City Electric Supply employees who bring talent, hard work, and determination to our company. Every one of the 3,500+ CES team members plays a vital role in our business and we are very proud of all their accomplishments!
We recently had the pleasure of catching up with CES Branch Manager Jeff Wilson in Rock Hill, S.C., about his career with CES. Wilson is an outstanding employee who wears multiple hats in the electrical industry including an active advisor on York Technical College Building and Trades Committee. He believes future leaders should always strive to be one percent better than they were yesterday.
Jeff: I’ve proudly been with CES for 12 years. I originally started as an outside sales representative working across several branches. With hard work and a positive attitude, I worked my way up to become a branch manager.
CES: What’s been your biggest accomplishment/most proud moment while at CES?
Jeff: I am most proud of building a client base and consistent growth of seven to 10 percent over the past five years. As a branch manager, I was challenged with improving city counter and establishing a local reputation for great customer service. I think our growth is a result of everyone achieving this goal.
CES: What’s your favorite thing about working for this company?
Jeff: The freedom and ability to make decisions is hands down my favorite aspect about CES. It truly makes the job enjoyable to know that you are directly affecting the outcome – whether good or bad. I always advise my team that they are going to be the golden boy or the goat boy, but they will have to learn to make wise decisions. Those lessons come with granting ownership along with holding your staff accountable.
CES: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Jeff: Someday, I would like to be group manager.
CES: What is one unique thing you do at work every day?
Jeff: Talking to the customers and having the chance to uplift them at city counter truly makes all the difference in your day. If I notice someone seems down, I try to give a little humor just to brighten their mood.
Please help us in congratulating him for being April’s CES team member feature. Thanks for everything you do for CES Jeff!
