Mackie Monday | We are Thankful

Reading Time: 4 minutes

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and enjoyed the time with your families. Aside from having to endure the Carolina Panthers destroy the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day, it was a wonderful weekend for our family and a great time to reflect on the many things for which we are thankful.

This Mackie Monday, I would like to focus on something I am particularly grateful for: the ability CES has to give back in our community.

Over the last several years, CES has enjoyed the opportunity to support a number of wonderful causes and given the season, I would like to share some of them with you. It’s because of you, our employees, suppliers, and customers, that this company sits in the position to give back graciously and it is in your honor that we celebrate some of our recipients.

Dallas Children’s Advocacy Centerimgres

The Dallas Children’s Advocacy seeks to improve the lives of abused children and provide national leadership on child abuse issues. It is reportedly one of the first advocacy centers to be established in Texas, which now has more than 67 centers of varying sizes and services.

The Center opened in February 1991 and served 725 alleged child abuse victims during its first year alone. In January 2013, the agency moved to a state-of-the-art 56,000 square foot facility where one year later more than 4,000 children and their non-offending family members were served. We are proud to support this organization.

North Texas Food Bank

This will mark our second supporting the North Texas Food Bank north-texas-food-bank(NTFB). Founded in 1982, the NTFB is a Dallas nonprofit hunger relief organization that distributes donated, purchased, and prepared foods to those in need.

The NTFB is responsible for providing access to more than 170,000 meals daily for hungry children, seniors, and families. In their 2015 fiscal year, that totaled more than 63 million meals.

Operation Homefront

In 2013, CES partnered with Operation Homefront to send a veteran and their family to Disney World. operation+homefront1Additionally, we ran a fundraising campaign both online and in-store. CES partnered with Klein Tools for a special edition plier, the sale of which sent proceeds back to the aid of our wounded warriors and their families.

Operation Homefront assists military families during difficult times by providing food assistance, auto and home repair, vision care, travel and transportation, moving assistance, essential home items, and financial assistance.
