Tamlite IB LED Fixtures

Light fixtures are essential in making your valued customers’ stores shine. Have you ever wondered how these fixtures are actually crafted? We went behind the scenes to the Tamlite Hi-Lux factory to discover the meticulous craftsmanship and detail that goes into each and every one of these IB LED fixtures.

1. Laser Cutting

The IB LED consist of three separate components: the body, the heat shield, and the light engine. All materials are laser cut from a 60×120 inch 24-gauge galvanized sheet of US sourced steel. After the IB LED parts are cut, they are separated and prepared bend into form.

2. The Perfect Shape

The first step is to bend the light engine into the right shape. The light engine will eventually house LED boards and is bent on an electric break press which outputs 50 TONS of pressure! Each bend on the IB LED is carefully laid out to ensure an even spread of illumination as well as minimize light cancellation. Once the IB LED body has received the required number of bends, the light engine is officially ready for powder coating.

3. Powder Coating

The body and light engine pass through a powder spray booth that applies a minimum three mill coating of highly reflective white powder to both components. This gives it the shiny coating you’ve come to know. Both the LED’s body and light engine will then pass through a 450-degree oven to cure the powder coating. Once all components are completed, the assembly process beings.

4. IB LED, Assemble

Assembly of the IB LED begins with LED drivers being fastened to the body. The number of drivers installed is determined by the lumen package required for the order. Wiring harnesses are then connected to line voltage and zero to ten-volt dimming are installed into the fixture and labeled appropriately. The body, heat shield, and light engine are fastened together using special screws designed to ensure continuity between all painted and unpainted components of the fixture. After completed, the LED boards are connected to the LED drivers and the fixture is ready to be tested.

5. HiPot Testing

Each fixture from the Hi-Lux factory is thoroughly tested using a HiPot tester. The line voltage wires are connected to the HiPot tester and a grounding wire leading back to the HiPot tester is connected. Once completed, the fixture and its components are tested. The HiPot tester will detect faults within the fixtures components as well as improper grounding. Once the fixture has passed its tests, a testing label will be printed and affixed to the fixture. This label contains the serial code, date tested, as well as the name of the employee who tested the fixture. A UL label is put inside the fixture to further certify the fixture as suitable and a quick disconnect is added to the line voltage wires.

6. Packaged and Ready to Ship

At its completion, we add an access plate with supply ground screw. Once the access plate and ground screw have been installed, the light fixture is officially ready to go to packaging. After the fixture is bent, painted, assembled, and tested, it’s finally ready to be packaged! The fixture is wrapped in bubble wrap, placed in a box, labeled, and on its way to you.
