Going the Extra Miles for Customers: Delivering Generators After a Hurricane
City Electric Supply (CES) strives to provide exceptional and personalized customer service, and it’s no secret that our team members consistently deliver. But there are some who go the extra mile to meet our customers where they are, and this is one of those stories.
When CES Outside Salesman Cameron Dawson saw a call for generators on Facebook, he didn’t expect an opportunity to help with storm relief in a different city — but he was happy to do it when the time came.
Answering the call
In July of 2024, Hurricane Beryl arrived in Houston, Texas, and left many without electricity. With a sudden demand for generators, not everyone could get their hands on one. That’s where a post on Facebook came into the picture.
A businessman in Houston had three jobsites without power. He needed to get things back on track, but when he couldn’t get his hands on a generator nearby, he took to Facebook.
“I told him that I had plenty of generators in stock in Dallas if he had a way to get them, but he didn’t,” recalled Dawson. “I had a company truck and a trailer at my house, so I decided to deliver them that way.”
Dawson wasted no time (or daylight) getting them to their destination. The next morning, he left his home at 3:00 a.m. with generators in tow. Without a way to offload the generators from the trailer, Dawson happily helped offload them by hand.
With the delivery mission accomplished, Dawson turned around and drove back to his home in Weatherford — closing out his day 16 hours after it began.
Powered by the team
While certainly a story of going above and beyond, this extra effort is nothing new to Dawson.
“I do deliveries like this all the time,” said Dawson. “I’ve always been the kind of person who will be there when someone needs something, no matter what. It’s all about taking care of your customers.”
When asked what keeps him going, Dawson points to his CES team members and Regional Manager Phil McKinney.
“I’ve worked for a few suppliers over the last eight years, but City Electric Supply is different. They really care for their team members. Phil and everyone in the Dallas-Fort Worth region are wonderful to work with,” explained Dawson.
“I wake up every morning knowing that I’ve got a good team backing me. I love what I do and who I work with.”
Dawson has already proven that he’ll go the extra mile at CES — and with a team mentality and a passion for superior customer service, we think he’s going to go far indeed.
