Episode 38 | Celebrating Long Careers at CES Monroe

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Each time a City Electric Supply (CES) branch opens, it brings new opportunities for lifelong careers and service to the community. When CES Monroe in North Carolina held its recent 25th-anniversary celebration, several CES veterans also celebrated their considerable experience and contributions to the industry.

First, there’s Branch Manager Jamie Long, who began his remarkable career at this branch just after it opened.

“About 24 years ago, I came to CES needing a job, and they gave me a great opportunity to work my way up and make it into a career. I’m proud of what I have achieved, and CES has been good to me. I wouldn’t change a thing,” said Long.

Another team member with a deep knowledge of the electrical market is Outside Sales Representative Tim Brown. He has an impressive 18 years of service in the industry.

“I joined City Electric Supply after seven years of hands-on experience in the field. It’s helped me to have walked in the customers’ shoes and know their needs,” said Brown.

Then there’s District Manager Scott Broome, who leads multiple branches with an exceptional 23 years at CES. He is also a longtime resident of North Carolina with expert knowledge of the Monroe community’s needs.

“I started as an electrical salesman in Statesville, North Carolina, then had an opportunity to transfer to CES Concord and was there for 15 years. I’ve been a district manager for about five years,” said Broome.

Plus, he always looks forward to helping others grow with CES.

“What I’m most proud of is giving our employees the opportunity to advance their careers and make a better living for themselves and their families,” said Broome.

Electrical Veterans at CES Monroe Ensure Amazing Customer Service

Together, Long, Brown, Broome, and the rest of the Monroe team do whatever it takes each day to deliver material in a timely manner.

“When they need it and how they need it. Our service is just number one,” said Long.

And the branch shows that a drive to go above and beyond gets results.

“The Monroe branch has some great long-term, established customers. It is one of the top performing branches in the U.S. and has been for quite some time,” said Broome.

“This is one of the top branches, year in, year out,” confirmed Vice President of Operations John Nantz.

As a result, the branch building grew too, to meet the demand.

“We recently went through a remodel and expansion, and it’s a night and day difference. We added another section, a brand-new counter, and raised the ceilings. It looks great,” said Broome.

A great turnout of local residents proved that the branch is an appreciated, essential part of Monroe.

“The great thing about 25 years is how we’ve become a part of the community,” said Nantz. “This branch operates like an old barbershop — the customers come in and share their stories. We’re not just trying to make a sale; we want to get to know everyone and build relationships.”

Customers who visited during the anniversary celebration enjoyed a great lunch from Kater Time Bar-B-Q and won raffle prizes, including Yeti hard coolers. Vendors such as Klein Tools and Intermatic attended the branch’s milestone event, offering great deals and product demos.

“I’m excited to give back to those who have supported us along the way,” said Long. “It feels good to have customers, vendors, and everybody from CES here. I’ve built relationships that I feel will last a lifetime.”
