My first update | Le Tour de Mackie
Now three weeks into training, I wanted to give you all an update on how things have gone. There have certainly been ups and downs, but I am pretty happy with the progress so far!
Week 1- I started out of the gates strong with my training week one. I started the week with two short rides; one on Tuesday where I did 11 miles followed by a 12-mile ride on Thursday. I then took advantage of my Labor Day weekend back where I grew up in Colorado and finished the week with a 32-mile ride…I did have to take a break in the middle for lunch:)
Week 2- Week 2 was a disappointing week! Coming off Labor Day weekend, this short week saw my calendar jam packed with a two-day general managers meeting, a full day YPO (Young Presidents Organization) meeting,and travel up to NYC for work on Saturday. Knowing I was traveling on business the whole next week…and that I had seriously slacked the week before…I decided to bring my bike with me and was able to get a 13-mile ride in early Sunday morning in Central Park before my wife’s meeting started and I was on toddler duty!
Week 3- Week 3 was better! After traveling to Philly on Monday and Tuesday to visit our branches, I returned to NYC for three days of meetings, but was able to get a 13-mile ride in early Wednesday morning and then finished the week with a 30-mile ride (no lunch break this time:) ) back home in Dallas yesterday.
