CES Proudly Supports the American Red Cross
The American Red Cross (ARC) recently recognized City Electric Supply (CES) as a notable partner in a newsletter. The CES family could not be more excited to continue working with the incredible organization. Through CES Cares, the philanthropic arm of City Electric Supply, CES and the ARC formed a partnership in 2017 to provide relief and recovery after Hurricane Harvey.
And they have remained close partners ever since.
What the American Red Cross Does
The ARC shelter feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies about 40 percent of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. And although they help approximately 1,000 people every hour, they are not funded by the government. What does this mean? Their work relies on corporate partnerships and the generosity of the public.
“Whether we’re working on disaster response or meeting the needs of blood collections, it’s a community effort. The Red Cross can’t do it alone, so we rely on community partners to join us,” explained ARC Regional Communications and Marketing Director Krystal Smith.
How CES Supports the ARC
In recent years, the American Red Cross has needed more support to respond to the increased frequency of natural disasters. CES supports their efforts by contributing to their disaster response line, which allows the ARC to prepare before disasters strike.
“Last fall, Hurricanes Laura, Sally, and Delta upended thousands of peoples’ lives in Gulf Coast communities. And the American Red Cross was by their side, providing a safe refuge, warm meals, and sorely needed emotional support,” said Senior Officer of Corporate Partnerships at American Red Cross — North Texas Region Diane Stephenson. “We could be there for hurricane survivors thanks to the generous gifts we received from City Electric Supply and others.”
CES supports the ARC on two levels. Nationally, CES has donated over $100,000 as a partner this year. Locally, branches have also joined in to support the organization in their own communities.
In 2020, a City Electric Supply branch in Lexington, South Carolina, hosted a Red Cross blood drive at their branch in response to the critical blood shortage facing the United States. More recently, after an explosion in South Dallas, CES supported the ARC as they worked to assist nearly 300 people left without homes.
“Whether responding to disasters or collecting lifesaving blood, it takes many people and partner organizations to meet the needs of the community,” said American Red Cross — North Texas Region CEO Keith Rhodes. “We appreciate City Electric Supply for their support and long-standing commitment to the Red Cross mission, and we are proud to partner with them to make a positive impact for neighbors in need.”
Honored to Play a Part
CES is honored to partner with the American Red Cross and have the opportunity to help positively impact local communities.
“It’s a great feeling knowing that we’re partnered with such an amazing organization that does so much for families in need,” said CES Social Impact Manager Karen Gray. “I’m so glad CES can help the American Red Cross in any way they need.”
