A Quick Chat with Our Cityzen: Steve Wesson

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Each month, we catch up with different City Electric Supply employees who bring talent, hard work, and determination to our company. Every one of the 3,500+ CES team members plays a vital role in our business and we are very proud of all of their accomplishments!

We had a chat with CES Toccoa Driver Steve Wesson in Toccoa, Ga., for his outstanding excellence and work ethic since beginning his career with CES. We are honored to highlight Steve and everything he does to make CES great.

CES Toccoa, Ga., Van Driver Steve Wesson’s favorite thing about his routine is working directly with customers and delivering their materials.

CES: How long have you worked with CES?

Steve: I’ve been working at CES for the past 14 years. I’ve worked in counter sales, taking the material in, and delivering supplies to our customers.

CES: What is your position now and where did you start in the company?

Steve: I’m CES Toccoa’s driver. When I started at CES, Don Corbett was branch manager at the time and I was an electrician by trade. I was looking to see if the branch needed help and he asked me if I wanted to change occupations, and then it just went from there.

CES: What is your biggest accomplishment/most proud moment while at CES?

Steve: I enjoy working directly with our customers. Whatever Don or anybody at the branch needs, I just do it. Another favorite thing I enjoy while working is meeting all the people that run the business.

Two years ago I was diagnosed with colon cancer so I had to go through chemo treatment for six months for 4-5 hours every Monday. During that time, I had to have surgery and they said I couldn’t go back to work for about three months, and I was back to work in three weeks. I also enjoy riding my motorcycle with the Indian Creek Riders and raising money for charity.

CES: What’s your favorite thing about working for this company?

Steve: I’ve really enjoyed driving the CES truck and delivering material. I’ve worked in counter sales, but my passion is to be the one to deliver the supplies to our customers.

CES: What is one unique thing you do at work every day?

Steve:

I stock the warehouse, take the material in and out, and deliver supplies to our customers. I’ve been all over the place – Ohio, Savannah, Ga., Memphis, Tn., New Orleans, La., and a little bit of everywhere. Getting material to people on time and making sure they get what they want is of big importance to me!

Steve is a member of the motorcycle club Indian Creek Riders, and enjoys participating in charity rides. The next ride is in June and benefits a 7-year-old with leukemia. All proceeds will go directly to help with her treatment.

CES Spartanburg Group Manager Don Corbett nominated Steve for demonstrating hard work, talent, and determination he brings to CES.

Don Corbett:

Steve will go anywhere and do anything for the company. He’ll often be charged with making overnight deliveries to customers working remotely across the Southeast. Sometimes, with very little notice, he’ll be required to stay overnight due to the distance their specialized deliveries cover. Steve recently beat cancer and is in remission after chemo, and he worked right through it.

Thank you for all you do, Steve!
