Cityzens Spotlight: How We Power Up

Reading Time: 2 minutes

CES has taken huge strides in implementing formal programs over the last year to ensure our staff is equipped with the best resources for career growth. According to a recent report, seven in 10 electricians see a shortage of experienced professionals in the industry and believe more on-the-job training would create a more experienced workforce. With the changing technical demands surrounding the industry, it’s no surprise that professionals have concerns and as suppliers, it’s our duty to respond.

As spring swiftly approaches, we couldn’t be more proud of what our branches are accomplishing. Here’s a toast to progress and special congrats to outstanding employees leading by example.

Kurtis Baker, CES Greeley

Kurtis Baker of the Greeley, Colorado branch is the first to complete the Head Office Training Program and become a Branch Manager. His extensive training from the program included working in every position at a branch, working with the West Coast Regional Group of office, the South West accounting office, and local contractors. During his training, he was able to visit the the TAMCO factories in Florida and the CES head of office in Dallas, Texas. Kurtis also had one-on-one training from Regional Manager Glenn Smith and Colorado South District Manager Randy Birely. Kurtis believes the program served its purpose and was fulfilling to complete. The Colorado team is excited to have Kurtis!

Bob Davis

Bob Davis, CES Lakeland

Bob began his career with CES in November 2013 as a Stores Manager in Dade City, Florida
in the Land O Lakes District. His hard work and dedication led him to promotion to Outside Sales in Dade City in January 2016. His continued dedication and performance eventually inspired his promotion to the Branch Manager position in May 2017.

“Bob has been a great asset to our branch and has done well in promoting up through the ranks.”

– Matt Spina, Branch Manager, Dade City Branch

CES thrives to promote from within and Bob is a great example of how hard work and commitment can bring valuable growth to CES employees.

Davis Gillis, CES Albermarle

David started in December 1997 as a van driver and worked his way up to Branch Manager of the Albemarle, North Carolina branch. David’s leadership is a big reason that our branch has had such steady growth in the past 20 years. All of the staff here in Albemarle was trained by David, and we probably have one of the most experienced staffs around. Three of us have more than 15 years with CES.

I consider myself lucky to have worked with David the past seventeen years. Our current salesman and stores manager have also been here more than 15 years and were promoted up the ranks. Our customers know that David is always here to help in any way they need and he has instilled in us that same sense of dedication and responsibility.

“The customer comes first.”

-Charles Clay
