Reflection | A Year of Growth and Family

Reading Time: 3 minutes

This month marks the close of another very successful trading year for City Electric Supply and I cannot say thank you enough to our entire team for making it happen!

From a revenue growth perspective, we will end this year 16 percent up which closes our fifth consecutive year of double digit growth, in an industry whIMG_8001ere most companies are growing at an average rate of three to five percent annually.

Our success allows us to expand our CES family and so with that grow our employee count. In the last fiscal year, we swelled our workforce by more than 10 percent and opened 12 new locations.

Despite our continued success, we claim just one percent of the market share, which is great news! CES is poised for expansive growth in the coming years and as such we have made huge investments in our long-term business success – things that won’t necessarily affect you today or tomorrow, but build the infrastructure necessary to support our branch network in future years.

The opportunity for future development of not only CES, but also for you as an employee is exponential.

Our goal as a company is to provide associates with the opportunity of personal growth and education, so we may promote from within – this organic growth pattern is imperative to our business model and always has been.TMackieGroup

It is a business model, which allows the ability to make one 10-minute phone call and have a decision regarding opening a new branch location. We can foster van drivers to one day become general managers.

Two of the five current U.S. general managers started at that level, the other three started as a head office trainee and sales representatives respectively.

The reasons for our success this year is two-fold: we have more stability in the branch teams today and better relationships with our vendors than ever, and we are deeply investing in the future of this company.

For our year in review, on a more personal level, I welcomed the great blessing of my son’s birth – Thomas Louis Mackie. Little Tom Tom was given the namesake of our founder and my grandfather, Tom.

My most critical piece of personal advice learned from becoming a dad: sleep while you can!

We accomplished so many phenomenal things this year, it’s hard to hang my hat on just one and that’s an incredible feeling. I wish you all the most success as we begin our new fiscal year and hope to continue this positive trajectory for years to come.

We look forward to the opening of 20 new branches this fiscal year and with that, the inevitable expansion of our CES family.

Thank you for making this company as great as it is. And a special thank you goes to my family for supporting me and keeping me going during these busy and wonderful times – I’m grateful for you every day.

I’m excited to see what next year brings!
